Lee Gundlach Ph.D. grew up in
western Oklahoma where he began his interest in glass at a very
early age making designs with bits of broken glass embedded in the
hard red clay dried in the sun and then baked in a wood fire.

In the 70’s he was involved with sandblasting in Waco, TX and began
GLASS Arts Impressions© in 1974.  The work at that time was light
and dark shading, Multi-stage carving for trophies for dog shows and
developing a process for shading and light carving on tempered
glass. The 80’s brought copper foil, leaded glass and zinc windows
combined with sand carving and shading.  Lee switched to making
trophies for Orchid Shows and became an Accredited Judge for the
American Orchid Society.  Then hot glass arrived and the fusing and
glass blowing bug bit.  He began making French Impressionist style
glass paintings reminiscent of sand painting, but melting into a solid
fused sheet of glass.  Eventually table tops evolved up to the 36” x 68”
size.

Lee began making glass beads in 2001. Having studied the flow
properties of glass over the years of fusing, it was an easy step to the
beads.   Lee combines etching, electroplating, and incorporating
silver in the beads he now makes. In 2009 he moved to the Waco
area to be more involved in multiple areas of glass processes with
his grandson, Chandler Fuller.
