CALL TO ARTISTS
Sheryl Russell is not only an highly
skilled artist and decorator, she is also our new
director.  Here is her remarkable bio.
Sheryl Russell has been inspired by people of capability and
genius. Creativity, inventiveness, innovation, skills in music,
dance, design, adventure (living in pre-statehood Alaska).
With drawing talent, and  family that nurtured being different
and competitive; Sheryl found her niche by winning a primary
school art contest in second grade. Books, camps, and
museum schools provided her training. With limited art
education and lots of luck, Sheryl joined the famous
advertising department of Frost’s Bros, of San Antonio. With
Frost’s prestige in her portfolio and a series of magical
moves she became a Creative Director in New York City by
her early twenties. The who’s who of fashion and retail
became her clients. Great opportunities are still happening –
most recently a mural at the 1st Cavalry Museum on Ft. Hood.
Rod and Sheryl moved to Salado in 1991 and purchased, restored and remodeled
the historic Baines House property developing the Bed and Breakfast which recently
Salado. The Russells eloped to Seguin and drove to the then newly built Stagecoach
Inn Motel for their honeymoon. Sheryl bought from Grace Jones when she first opened
and many times thereafter. Sheryl has taught, lectured, and trained. She has worked
in public and university relations, advertising, merchandising and development.

Sheryl and Rod have two sons, three grandchildren, scads of gardening work, four
doves, one parrot, one cat, one dog, and many guests.
